What is Fixed Wire Testing?

Fixed Wire Testing - A brief guide

Fixed Wire Testing is, put very simply is the testing of your buildings electrical system. Fixed wire testing is also know by many other names such as:

Hard Wire Testing

Periodic Inspection Report or PIR

Electrical Installation Condition Report or EICR

Electrical Installation Inspection

Electrical Compliance Testing

Test & Inspection

Periodic Inspection & Testing

All of the above amount to the same thing. The inspection and testing of your electrical system.

This typically involves an engineer conducting a thorough visual inspection of your electrical system followed by a range of tests to confirm compliance with the British Standard IEE Wiring Regulations known as BS7671 2008 Amendment 3 (2015).

The outcome of the fixed wire testing will be documented within a document know as an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) which has replaced the Periodic Inspection Report (PIR). Any non-compliances will also be listed within the EICR each of which will be given a code to reflect its severity.

Will the testing disrupt my business?

Fixed wire testing can be very disruptive if it is not planned correctly. We will work closely with you on this to ensure any disruption is kept to an absolute minimum. Our engineers have decades of experience in testing and will work at a time to suit your business which may mean that the work is undertaken outside of normal working hours (please note there is no additional charge for out of hours working).
